Marketing & Sales majors at Baylor are highly recruited by corporate and nonprofit organizations. Go to FAQ (left bar) for more information.

Personal Attention

What do you think is the best class size for learning? A recent study of Big 12 and Big 10 universities found that the average principles of marketing class has nearly 200 students in each classroom. Some have as many as 600 in one auditorium class. At Baylor, you will learn principles of marketing in classes with less than 50 students.

What about upper level marketing courses? The same study found that typical classes for marketing majors, such as consumer behavior, at other Big 12 and Big 10 universities average 66 students in each classroom. At Baylor, we value experiential, hands-on learning activities that are best accommodated by class sizes of 18-24 students. At Baylor, your professors will know you by name when you walk down the halls, not by Q12--your seat number in the auditorium at other universities.

Internships

The Marketing Department strongly encourages all majors to obtain at least one internship prior to graduation. If you need assistance in this area, please contact Roger Davis (Roger_Davis@baylor.edu). Typically, over 70% of the 225+ junior and senior marketing majors participate in the internship program.

Combine areas of interest

Since any manufacturing, service or nonprofit organization must have someone who can market and sell what they have to offer to their customers or clients, many students choose to combine another major or minor with marketing:

  • accounting & marketing (successful CPAs must know the fundamentals of relationship marketing to succeed)
  • information systems & marketing (technical knowledge of software or systems are valuable to those who want to market or sell for companies such as IBM or Microsoft)
  • finance & marketing (knowledge of financial markets and investments are integrated with professional selling skills for brokers and bankers)
  • entrepreneurship & marketing (individuals who want to start their own business must have the ability to analyze the market opportunities and develop strategic marketing plans)
